Pretty In Prink!

There she was, just a-walking

down the street..

There is not unfounded argument that the real spectacle no longer takes place on the catwalk, or even on the front row but on the streets outside. They need no introduction here PRINK TONIC, an emerging high street  #madeinindia label which visited Surat with their 2014 Winter collection themed  ‘Tea Time in Paris'.

A pastel color palette reminiscent of a tempting plate of French fancies. Peony pinks, Garden blooms and Poetic silhouettes made of delicate fabrics and precious embroidery, a homage to some of the most famous fairy tales. Primarily inspired by the famous patisseries and architecture of Paris, the city of love visited the city of diamonds.

It was 10.45 am on day one, almost half an hour earlier than the call time and i could already see the crowd of visitors building up. Many of them are from the regular PrinkTonic clientele!

A beautiful sunny day, the gallery looked pretty with a fabulous collection of romantic flowery dresses, floral maxis, vintage inspired midi-skirt sets and ready to wear tops.

Also the fabulous collection of the Katie Alice Afternoon Tea sets!

Katie and Alice is a well known crockery brand from London. A strong influence from the English country garden and a love for all things vintage yet functional are the essence of Katie Alice.

There was a spark of excitement and joy on the faces of visitors and everyone discovered there favourit colors, be it the burgundies, ocher yellows, raspberry pinks and navy blues amongst the colors of the collection :)

Inspired by a 50’s color palette of sunshine yellow, warm grey and mint green with the prettiest of apple-blossom-pink flowers made it to the top favorite list.

Floral long Maxis added their own charm to the collection. The so Vintage Skirts and High Tea Tops were in demands. The work on the necklines of Maxi and dresses have been done by handwork and every outfit was handpicked.

Stylishly exhibited ensembles, this two day event dated 28-29 Nov ’14 saw the crème de la crème from Surat. Industrialists, Jwellery designers and socialites all gathered. The exhibition soon turned into something like a gathering of some old friends... that was the comfort level of the host and the people who visited. The lane at the trial room door was insanely increasing.

Each and every piece had a unique feel to it. Some are hand embellished with gold and colored pastilles, some are draped in styles.

Also from the racks , Oxblood is the hot color to wear this fall.  Favored by designers and fashionistas alike, this muted burgundy is surprisingly versatile and flatters just about any complexion.

Quintessentially English through and through, the collection received a warm applaud . Designer Priyam Sapra and twin sister Parina S.Mahajan are the brain behind this successful brand , now a favourite to the city.

Here is what some of the visitors had to say about the event:

Prakash, the host of the evening for this meet started the meet with a little introduction to Bookoholics and what we do. And then invited Pinak and Arvind to share their experiences of the Mumbai Literature Festival which they had attended recently.

This was followed by the speakers taking the center stage one by one and presenting their monologues -

The variety in the presentations was refreshing. And also the good part was most of the speakers had specially prepared their talk for the meet. So their views/ideas in the form of their monologues was a treat to be had for all of us present as audience.

All the speakers were absolutely outstanding and were a delight to listen to. We also squeezed in a small segment where the audience had a chance to take the center stage and introduce themselves and tell us what they would want the next Bookoholics meet to be. Following are some happy pictures from this segment -

A fun meet all in all which adds the much needed variety to our #LifeInSurat :)

Already looking forward to the next meet.

Rahul.

PS: We are really thankful to VR Surat for providing us with the venue. The help extended by the VR team is really appreciated.
