Perfect Timing! #EthosSummit at VR Surat

Its Christmas! And the timing could not be better for Ethos Watches, India's largest chain of luxury watch boutiques with 45 premium stores across the country, to have their first preview event in Surat - Ethos Summit. And the @LifeInSurat Team was there to cover the stupendous event :)

The event was held at Magdalla Plaza at VR Surat and VR Surat Team did not leave any stone unturned to make this event a big success. Everything was just perfect :)

The audience was delighted to hear from Mr Yasho Saboo himself the journey of Ethos from the very first store he and Mrs Anu Saboo opened in Chandigarh 12 years ago to this day, when Ethos is authorized retailer for 65 luxury watch brands from across the world.

Also the audience was treated with a live sand art demonstration! The artist depicted the whole Ethos journey via his art. We were all just spell bound watching him transform sand into a masterpieces.

The preview event was just superb! But the thing which was topping even such a superb event was the awesome WATCH COLLECTION they had for display. All of us present could not help but admire the collection!

We asked Mrs Saboo on what she actually had thought of the venture when they first started out. To which she candidly replied - “Honestly, I never thought it would be something so huge and grand. I thought we were opening just a retail outlet. But he (Mr. Saboo) was very clear on his principles like ‘No fakes’, ‘No smuggling’, ‘No refurbishing’ ”. And this simplicity and honesty has been core values for Ethos which has brought them this far.

Ethos is very positive about Surat. And thinks there is a great growth potential here. And teaming with VR Surat makes them very well positioned to ride on the Surat growth story.

All in all a great team effort for the event which was a huge success.

And everyone was donning a big smile :)

The Secret (the book) made quite a stir when it came out in 2006. Unarguably one of the most read books in the Self-Help genre, the book has sold more than 19 million copies and was the center of discussion at the Bookoholics Meet this weekend.

The meet was hosted by Manav and the speakers for the meet were - Nazm, Dharmesh Sir, Nishant and Yogi.

Yogi

The opinions ranged from 'it being law which has always existed - in religious books, science, culture, etc' to 'it being a sheer waste of time'. Nazm (who was talking to the group through the Skype call) and Nishant were both ardent supporters of the book and practice what has been preached in their real lives as well. Whereas Yogi and Dharmesh were in complete disagreement with the ideas being presented in the same.

As an audience we heard a full spectrum of views!

Manav - The host for the evening.

Manav - The host for the evening.

The individual views were followed by a group discussion in which everyone was invited and encouraged to present his/her views.

Rohan with his firm view that the whole "self-help" category of books are absolute trash!

Deepak Sir with his views that maybe not all but certain sections of society really need and are benefited by them.

And whole lot of views both for and against the book were presented and pondered on.

And as always the discussion kind of concluded with the conclusion that "If it works for you, let it. If it does not, let it be." :)

All in all such meets present a good opportunity for us to make use of all that grey matter inside our brains, gives us a few new thoughts to ponder over and a few new people to talk to :)

I look forward to the next one.

And with this blog, we want to keep the discussion going. So if you have any views of your own about The Secret, we would love for you to share it with us in the comment section below. And if you were present for the meet do tell us what were your take aways from the discussion. Looking forward to hearing from you :)

Priyanka.
